Template notice. This document is a starting template written for OpenSourceLabs. It is not legal advice and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer and adapted to your company details and jurisdiction before it is relied on.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the OpenSourceLabs website, catalog, search, dashboard, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What OpenSourceLabs provides
OpenSourceLabs is a directory that organizes public GitHub repositories into categories and shows information about them, including descriptions, languages, licenses, README content, and links to clone or download the code. OpenSourceLabs does not host the source code of listed repositories and is not affiliated with or endorsed by GitHub, Inc.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to create an account.
- Provide accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us promptly at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorized use.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put the Service or other users at risk.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Service you agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the catalog by automated means beyond what our robots.txt and published API limits allow.
- Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or bypass authentication, rate limits, or security measures.
- Interfere with or overload the Service, or use it to distribute malware.
- Use the Service to break any law or infringe anyone’s rights.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
5. Third-party repositories and licenses
Repositories listed on OpenSourceLabs are owned by their respective authors and are provided under their own licenses. Your use of any repository, including cloning, downloading, or deploying it, is governed solely by that repository’s license and terms. You are responsible for reviewing the license and the code before using it.
OpenSourceLabs does not review, audit, or guarantee the security, quality, or legality of any listed repository. Listing a repository is not an endorsement.
6. Our content and trademarks
The OpenSourceLabs name, logo, website design, category taxonomy, and original text are owned by OpenSourceLabs and protected by intellectual property laws. You may link to any public page and share category and repository links. You may not copy or re-publish the catalog as a competing service without our written permission.
7. Repository removal requests
If you own a listed repository and want it removed or corrected, or believe content on the Service infringes your rights, email hello@opensourcelabs.dev with the repository URL and the reason. We will review requests promptly and respond to valid notices, including copyright notices under applicable law.
8. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Repository data is synced periodically and may be out of date. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OPENSOURCELABS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY THIRD-PARTY REPOSITORY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify OpenSourceLabs against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [insert jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [insert venue], unless mandatory consumer law in your country gives you other rights.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify signed-in users. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
